Founded in 1885, Peradon is the world’s oldest cue manufacturing company and was responsible for developing and introducing the hand-spliced cue, setting the standard for others to follow.

Our cues have graced the hands of snooker’s greatest legends and continue to be the choice of elite players. Among them, the iconic Joe Davis—arguably the most celebrated player in the history of the game—who favoured a Peradon cue and granted us the exclusive rights to use his name.

Every Peradon cue is crafted in England, combining generations of expertise with meticulous attention to detail. We blend traditional techniques developed over more than a century with select modern innovations to produce cues with the unmistakable ‘feel’ that sets our craftsmanship apart.

Commitment to quality begins with careful timber selection. Our company purchases more timber than any other English cue manufacturer enabling us to select higher quality timbers for our cue shafts. Having been cut to an oversize square the shaft timbers are left to settle for a period before the craftsman shapes this to an accurately dimensioned cue blank.

Cue blanks are graded for production, ensuring only timber with optimal strength and straightness is used. The butt timber is then spliced onto the shaft using one of two distinct methods:

• Machine Splicing: A less expensive yet highly effective method of splicing hardwood butt timber to the shaft. The butt timber is cut to provide four points, which are glued into four slots machined into the shaft timber. This creates a clean, four-point pattern where the butt meets the shaft.
• Hand Splicing: The traditional method developed by Peradon for splicing the butt timber to the shaft. The shaft is planed flat on two sides, and Ebony butt timber is glued to these surfaces. After rotating the cue 90 degrees, two more flats are planed and additional pieces added. The cue is then shaped to reveal the elegant, rounded four-point pattern—an unmistakable mark of craftsmanship.

For those seeking visual distinction, cues can be further enhanced with additional splices from our extensive range of exotic timbers and vibrant veneers.

Jointed cues are carefully cut and fitted with solid brass ‘Quick Action’ joints, which release in just 1½ turns. Each joint is aligned to ensure the grain flows seamlessly across the shaft—proof that the shaft is made from a single piece of timber, vital for consistent strength and performance.

The position of the joint creates different styles of cue. Two-piece cues have the joint fitted in the centre whilst ¾ jointed cues are available with the joint located 12", 14" or 16" from the butt and will accept an optional extension. Most cues now also feature butt end joints where an extension may be screwed directly into the end of the butt. All jointed Peradon cues feature solid brass ‘Quick Action’ joints, which release within a maximum of 1½turns.

Numerous sanding and finishing processes are then undertaken to achieve our signature ‘silk smooth’ finish. Finally, the ferrule and tip are fitted, completing a cue that embodies precision, heritage, and performance.
